Is Time Travel Possible?

Since last year, I have heard of several people making good money working in the travel industry as a home based online travel agent. The good news is that you can, too. In fact it’s easy! These people have done it honestly, legally and ethically with the proper guidance of knowing all the details in this new online career. Once you know the basic steps then you can start making real money.
There are two options to start with and those are; either to be a part timer in the first 3 months, giving you time to become more acquainted with the business flow of being an online travel agent from actual transactions and later dedicating yourself full time to your new career.
Then, there are those that start straight away as full timers and are now successfully supporting themselves and their loved ones. The fun part is that they started seeing the world together with their family, something that may have been just a dream when they were still in those clerical jobs. Their often find that their entire lifestyle has dramatically changed in just a short period of time.
In definition, a home-based online travel agent markets travel products offered by travel companies and suppliers that has a vast inventory of vacation package deals. The position is often referred to as “independent sales representatives.” “Independent” due to the fact that you are not working inside an office space of a travel company whose products you represent.
As an independent travel agent, you may deal directly with a travel supplier or through a middleman (host agency). Because you are not an employee from any of them, you are not on their payroll list or have employee benefits.
The bottom line here is that you make your own money and get paid through commissions on whatever travel products that you can sell and there is no limit to the income you want to generate from your own time table (weekly or monthly sales). These is achieved by negotiating your own commission level or get the best offered commission package from either the host agency or the travel supplier of your choice. Earning capacity is generally unlimited from commissions and it will steadily increase as you grow your network.
To gauge your success as an online travel agent is easy! When you sell more, you earn more, sell less and you earn less.
Important advice here is that when you are independent and on your own, remember that you should never be completely alone and do all of the work with no support. There are travel suppliers who offer great packages for independent travel agents that are all automated and can mean easier work for you, giving you more time to focus on expanding your client listings. Remember that you must constantly work with others who have all the resources that will help provide the best service to your clients. To have a good understanding of what I am saying here, check out this travel supplier, http://www.personaltravelgroup.com. and you will see the difference!
Personal Travel Group offer full professional support to all of their agents and their motto is “We do the work – you make the money!” You don’t need qualifications and they pay out 70% of the available commission! It’s the best one I’ve seen – check it out for yourself…

Help answer the question about Travel
What university course leads to travel agent?Im looking at my university course book and courses to become a travel agent – however none of them specifically say 'travel agent'
they say things like tourism industry and recreational planner..
Does anyone know the name of the course that can result in a career of being a travel agent?
Thanks!

the mystery that is time… it has some godly attributes as it gives purpose to the existence of the universe… imagine if there is no time, then all the events that happened, is happening and could happen, HAPPENED ALL AT ONCE! i mean, bigbang(provided it’s the true origin), evolution(if it’s true, that is), extinction of life, and the universe returning to a singularity(again, MAYBE) all these events that should take billions of years happened in a snap of a finger!
Mr know it all here must have a PHD? your a Scientist, you have a mind like Einstien or this bloke here in the video? I think not.
With any theory there will always be someone saying ‘impossible’.
If you went back in time and told someone you could travel off the earth, into space, they would think your insane, and say… impossible.
So CalebTheGuitarist, you know jack shit about what is/can be fact and what can’t.
it would be much better if the universe didn’t exist all! everything would be useless! but thankfully though, time DOES exist. so the universe somehow has meaning to it regardless if it randomly existed(which is very unlikely) or intellegently designed(much more logical reason, IMHO).
I like the simple style of spiking about so hard topic.
To our present knowledge of the laws of physics, time travel is actually possible (in theory). However, if it is "possible" does not mean we know how to do it. (Re:Steven Hawkins & Roger Penrose).
Even if we did invent time travel, we could only travel back and forth in time FROM the time we inveted the machine. Say we invented in in 2000. We could travel to 3000, come back to 2001 or even to 2000, but we would not be able to go back to 1999.
This, maybe, could be the reason to deny what you call the grandfather paradox. (I invent a machine, go back in time, kill my grandfather before my father was born, so I was not born, so I did not invent the time machine, so I did not go back and did not kill my grandfather etc…)
This is an odd place to post this question but let me try and answer it if I can.
Einstein's theory of relativity goes like this : "nothing can travel faster than the speed of light" (186,282 miles per second squared)…..but Einstein qualified the speed of light by an observation he made here on earth while he was alive (which was a mistake) Einstein said that gravity is the strongest power known and to explain both arguments he used the formula that we all know as "E=Mc squared" or energy equals mass squared….Ok, but modern astronomers make absolutely obvious mistake by saying that a quasar or pulsar ejects matter at about 90% the speed of light at it's poles,…..that formula does not consider both poles, only one pole is considered here,…why is that?…it's because astronmers aint smart enought ot utter the statement " a quasar has two poles" ( otherwide they'd have to edplain away a cosmicano, that being an eruption of ejecta from one wall of the universe) and thus has two ejecta directions which are by their own admission traveling at 90% the speed of light that is thus seen as having two poles traveling away from each other at 180% the speed of light!…..This statement suggests that light can only travel at a speed of 93,141 mps, squared, which would immediately make up for the entire speed of light in all directions. Ok, so you're saying "but how does this answer my question?" It's a simple answer really but very complicated to prove but I'll do it here for you in the twinkiling of my keyboard,……….No time travel isn't possible in 3 dimesions. If you could travel at 186,282mps 2d, then you could meet yourself coming backward from the lightswitch .which is by all accounts one of the most famous conundrums in science. A star can bend light as light travels past it in relevence to where a person observes the star and the light,…which in turn can make a source of light to appear to be coming from somewhere else behind the star…..but it does'nt define for us where the source is or how long it's been traveling to get to us…….So if a supernova was to occur "behind the sun" for example but that supernova was ten billion years old, where did it come from and how many stars did it pass before it got to our sun?…….the question isn't answerable. So we cannot travel as fast as the speed of light cuz we don't know how fast that is,…… nor can we travel faster than that….we can however travel slower than that and in fact we can almost freeze light in a vacuum. The laser tells us how fast light travels here on earth which is 186,282 mps2d,….so we can travel faster than that by saying I will turn this laser on at a given time…..thus we make the plan and the deed is programmed into history, which by this time is really the future but we can go back and look at our notes after we did the deed and see both history and the future happening..thus we have the idea that we can travel ahead in time absolutely……but only in a given time frame…so in theory "no we cannot travel back in time but we can travel ahead in time, the only problem here is that we cannot gleen any data from the future until we get there and so that data is un-fathomable in the now because now is then…..but we can from the past,…..this is somehow an anti-theory that actually exists mathematically……if you check my notes by re-reading this, you see what I mean. There are arguments that say if time travel is possible, then we are living in the past through the future because if we have a future in which time travel is possibe, then we've already traveled back here to see what's happening today,…apparently you're doing a paper on time travel right?….see I told you so!…… Then there's the argument that we can travel back in time and that we already have and that we're here to observe it happening then because then is now in the future.!!! which makes sense to some but only in an influenced state of mind,……and there are some who say " an influenced state of mind is really the only way to fly"…..I for one do not agree with the latter…….I would say that we are in the now because that's where we are going…….I mean unless you have somewhere else to be right?……..but then we'd all have to come with you and some of us don't want to go back to school……Entertain yourself young man!……..life is worth thinkning about as opposed to science..one day you'll be 21 and you'll forget this conversation ever happened!!!!!!! Good for you.
it’s a simple yes or no question. the problem is, no one has the full understanding of what TIME really is. it’s still a mystery even for the so-called “experts” and “great minds”. one thing is true about time though, it’s a force that keeps ALL events that happened, is happening, and will happen, from occuring/happening simultaneously. now how can you travel on such force? hmm… i wonder…
time travel is possible. but not using machines, worm holes not even > speed of light. u can travel towards the future and past. i have the secrets.
Insofar as we know, time travel is only possible by going a significant fraction of the speed of light and then returning to your point of origin after some elapsed time. This is only travel in the forward direction relative to the frame you left, however (see the commonly used twin paradox where one leaves and ages some 5 years while the other who stays put ages say 50).
The problem is you can't hit the speed of light. A simple examination of the full form of Einstein's E = (gamma)mc^2 will show you this.
As you try to approach c, the speed of light, your required energy to accelerate more becomes infinite. This is of course assuming you have mass. We'll take that as a safe assumption.
As a fun bit of further trivia, traveling beyond the speed of light would require more than infinite energy.
sorcery?
hahahhaha…they could try but they would have a very difficult time seeing 'jesus' is a personification of the SUN
LMFAO
I would say yes. If that's how you would like to perceive it.
This is because time is a human made reference point.
If you look at your watch, it is simply a mechanical machine ticking away or digitally showing you sequential numbers at a predetermined speed.
We "measure" our day by 1 rotation around the sun. Does the sun "tell" us what time it is? The Earth is simply rotating around the sun, there are no inherent time equivalents.
We could have arbitrarily said 3 rotations around the sun is a day. Just like instead of going with a lunar rhythm that is much more regular of 29.5 days, we are arbitrarily going with a calender that all have different numbers of days in a month.
Have fun on your travels!
No, because time is just a concept, a human construct for measuring change. You cannot undo change… only try to change it back to the way it looked to you before.
"WHY does time pass very slowly relatively to a body that is traveling through space in a very high speed"
Wow, are you confused. what you wrote is wrong.
time does not pass very slowly relative to a body traveling very fast. Wrong. Time appears to be slower for a body traveling very fast when observed by a stationary observer. To an observer traveling with that body, time appears to pass normally (but the stationary observer's time seems slowed down).
You seem to agree that we are traveling forward in time, despite your unpleasant language about how you don't want to hear any answers that might be better informed than you are, it seems that your question is why the passage of time is different for things traveling at different speeds.
First. We are traveling at 99.9999% of the speed of light. AND. We are traveling at 0.1234% of the speed of light. You FIRST have to understand how both of those things can be true. (and many more speeds). The answer is that our speed is relative. An observer traveling at 99.9999% of the speed of light will see us wizzing by at just that speed. Another observer traveling at 0.12345% of light speed (according to us) will see us moving at just THAT speed. Speed is relative. We are travelling at as close to light speed as matter can get and at the same time at ZERO mph.
Understand that.
Second. the speed of light (in a vacuum (far from a significant gravitational field)). IS CONSTANT FOR ALL OBSERVERS. Yo have to understand that. It is based on many, many many many experiments and always proves true.
Our theories are based on the experiments, not the other way around.
Once you understand those two things you can understand why time dilates. Here's why.
You and I agree to do an experiment. One of us will get in a spaceship and the other will sit out in space on a little meteor.
Lets say I will be in the ship, you on the rock. We agree that I will accelerate the ship to 1/2 light speed and zoom by you at a precise time. So far so good. So, at, lets say, noon tomorrow I'll zip by you. We further agree that we want to measure the speed of light at that time. So, we'll both bring along our handy-dandy laser flashlights and both turn them on just as I'm zipping by 12 up tomorrow. For the sake of this argument, lets also say we both have brought along all the equipemnt we need to measure the speeds of the beams of both flashlights. So we do the deed. What do we find?
………drum roll……….
If you understood the two points above you'll say that:
1. My light traveled at c (the speed of light = c)
2. Your light traveled at c
3. Most important, you and I both measured c for both light beams. There were four measurements; 2 for me and two for you and THEY ALL AGREE, exactly.
……. what! how is that possible? I was zipping by you at 1/2 c so my light beam should have been faster (since you were zipping by me in the other direction by 1/2c when we both turned on the lights – in my frame of reference)…….
Well. think about it. speed is distance traveled divided by time taken. In order for the speeds to be the same that ratio of the distance ÷ time has to be "adjusted" for the other person so that his measurements agree with mine. You adjust my numbers and I adjust yours and we both conclude that the other person is experiencing time at a slower rate than we are. Both of us are correct. remember we can't change c. Our adjusted numbers still have to give c as the speed of light.
This is just backwards of what we see around us and learn to expect. We learn that a mile is a mile and an inch is an inch. we learn that a minute can be measured in many ways but is always just as long (if measured correctly). What relativity implies is that no, these two things are NOT constant and unchangeable, it is their ratio distance/time for light that is constant. the numerator and denominator have to be adjusted to keep c, the ratio constant.
<edit> to get a better understanding read more explanations, but you'll really have to begin to do some math and some reasearch into the experiments that show this to be true to get a full understanding of all this.
Yes, I think it is. I don't know if you can go FORWARD in time, but BACKWARDS seems logical. Of course, how do we know that someone from the future has gone back in time and changed the past? If it was done once, why not twice? Three times?
You sir, are an idiot and so am I.
If only it was true, for I hate time travel.
However if you have a black hole rotating around a point the stressed time space field created does permit time travel, up to any point in the past where the black hole still exists. I don’t pretend to understand the math, for that ask Steven Hawking. Currently, we don’t have ships that can get to a black hole, we don’t have spacecraft that can survive flying that close to a black hole and we don’t know how to get a black hole rotating around a central point. It’s called a thought experiment, and that was how Einstein and Hawking deduced the presence of black holes.
Personally I think that the universe won’t tolerate a time traveler. That if he goes back in time and effects something, which his mere presence will, then he will have created a either a paradox that would cause a time quake whipping everything out up to the point of the paradox, OR the time traveler will have created an alternate time stream in which he can exist. That would be a better solution than trying to resolve the paradox. I have seen one two many science fiction story with time travel involved and everything works out happily in the end. THAT just isn’t going to happen.
Einstein hated quantum mechanics because they dealt with so much probability; you never know the exact position of an electron and measuring it causes a change in the electron. He said, “God doesn’t play dice with the universe.” But, for once, he was wrong. Not only does God play dice with the universe, but sometimes he hides the results in black holes. The universe isn’t the way we want it to be it just is.
Einstein considered time and space to be the fabric of the universe and so time was not a dimension. That meant you couldn’t travel back and forth in time only across space. I think that the universe only has room for the NOW and that there is no such thing as the past, it is gone, that was replaced by the NOW, but with Relativity that concept is wrong since you can have two different time rates and everything has a relative rate of time flow; which can coexist (Oh, my aching head). That means that time must be a dimension and that travel in it is possible, just highly unlikely.
There is also the possibility that the universe is self correcting enough to not allow time travel. The theory and the thought experiment might be valid, but in the actual case something would happen that would change the outcome so that time travel wasn’t possible. The machine would blow a fuse; the electric power plant would choose that time to fail, millions of other minor changes that would make it impossible to travel back in time. This is as much a possibility as all the other suggestions and until we find a real way to travel back in time or at least attempt the experiment we will never know for sure.
The error in your thought plan is that time isn’t energy, just like length and width aren’t energy. If it was then it would have a factor in all of our energy equations adding its own energy into it. So E=mc^2 would be E=mc^2 (+/-) time. We know that an explosion or energy activity conducted over a larger period of time reduces the amount of energy created so time has a limiting factor. You can also argue that E=mc^2 has the speed of light in it so that accounts for time, but if you change the time factor and leave everything constant the energy output is decreased.
When it comes down to it we really don’t know what time actually is. We can measure it be we have trouble quantifying it beyond that point. I am pretty sure that the mythical particle chronoton doesn’t exist. Time doesn’t need a particle to carry itself like an electron does. This makes it harder to manipulate time. The stress of the space frame itself is what allows time travel. Frankly, I wish the idea didn’t exist and until I read some higher physics books I didn’t believe in it either. I don’t pretend to understand the math involved, I take it on faith that those that do have got it right. At this point it is all a moot point; we can’t do it and we may never be able to do it. In that case it truly is impossible.
